YLL SoM Best Graduate Research Publication Award

Congratulations goes out to Miss Lim Sheau Yng from LSI Immunology Programme on winning the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine Best Graduate Research Publication Award 2019. Miss Lim, who is from Prof Veronique Angeli’s lab, and her team, has done a study in identifying a subset of arterial macrophages expressing Lymphatic vessel hyaluronan receptor (LYVE-1) which are lining the mouse and human blood vessels invested by smooth muscle cells.

These macrophages are important for the maintenance of vascular wall integrity, mainly by regulating the collagen content of smooth muscle cells through a process dependent on the engagement of LYVE-1 with hyaluronan on smooth muscle cells. Such knowledge is important for the development of more effective and targeted treatments for cardiovascular diseases.

Keep up the great work, Sheau Yng!
